Personal Background

Ed Patton's roots run deep in the heart of Kansas, where he was raised in the small town of Burden. Influenced by a family devoted to hard work and community, Ed learned early on the importance of helping neighbors and respecting elders. He and his wife have shared 34 fulfilling years together, raising six children and passing down the values of integrity and service. Ed's personal life revolves around family and community, guiding his vision for Topeka as a place where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Education

As a first-generation college graduate, Ed pursued higher education with determination and passion. He attended Wichita State University, where he obtained a bachelor's degree in administration of justice, followed by a master's degree in public administration and a graduate certificate in public finance. Ed's educational journey, under the mentorship of W. Bartley Hildreth, equipped him with the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate and excel in public management and finance.
